Unplug the Whirlpool refrigerator from the wall. If you cannot reach the plug for the refrigerator, turn off the power for the socket at the main circuit breaker panel.
Remove the lower grill at the bottom of the refrigerator just beneath the door. This may either snap out, or need to be unscrewed with a screwdriver or wrench.
Pull the drain pan out from underneath the refrigerator. Empty it into the sink.
Feel underneath the refrigerator with your hand for the exit to the drain. It will be surrounded by a rubber gasket, about half an inch in size. Insert your fingernail between the bottom of the refrigerator and gasket and gently pull downward until it snaps out of place.
Open the Whirlpool refrigerator. Pull out the crisper drawers and anything inside.
Locate the drain opening in the bottom of the refrigerator. Look for the rubber gasket similar to the one removed from underneath the refrigerator. Lift up on the gasket with your fingernail as you did with the one underneath the refrigerator. The gasket and drain hose should come up in one piece.
Remove the old gasket from the old drain hose. Snap it into the top of a new drain hose. Insert the new drain hose and gasket into the bottom of the refrigerator and snap the gasket into place.
Press the remaining gasket into place on the underside of the refrigerator drain hole opening.
Replace the drain pan. Secure the grill to the bottom of the refrigerator. Slide the crisper drawers into place. Restore power to the refrigerator.
