How to Replace a Frigidaire Refrigerator's AS-17 Relay Switch

A relay switch on any model refrigerator, including a Frigidaire, is part of the compressor. Along with other elements, it helps to heat and cool the gas responsible for maintaining the temperature inside the refrigerator. The relay is an electrical switch that turns the compressor on and off based on signals from the thermostat. Replacing the switch may be a first step in troubleshooting problems with a compressor that fails to turn off.
