How to Install a Samsung Ice Maker DA97-05037C

The Samsung ice maker model DA97-05037C is compatible with some refrigerators manufactured by Samsung, Maytag and Whirlpool. Whether you are replacing an old ice maker or installing one for the first time, the process should not take you more than 30 minutes, as long as your refrigerator is equipped to operate an automatic ice maker. Before purchasing the ice maker, ensure that your refrigerator is set up to off that option by reviewing the owner’s manual.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug your refrigerator from the wall outlet and scoot the appliance forward until you have access to the back of the refrigerator.

    • 2

Turn off the water supply line that runs to the refrigerator.

    • 3

Double check that the waterline is connected properly to the refrigerator’s inlet valve on the back of the refrigerator. Check to make sure the nuts that secure the water line to the water valve are tight.

    • 4

Follow the waterline to verify that it enters the back of the freezer. To install the ice maker, you must have this connection installed on the refrigerator.

    • 5

Turn the water supply back on and view the back of the refrigerator to monitor for leaks along the water connection valve. You will only need to watch the area for a few minutes. Once you have ensured there are not any leaks, turn the water supply off.

    • 6

Locate the two top holes in the back of the freezer compartment. This is where the ice maker will hang.

    • 7

Screw in two mounting screws into the top holes, leaving about 3/8 inch of the screws out of the holes. The ice maker hangs on the screws.

    • 8

Locate the wire connector on the freezer’s back wall and plug in the wire harness from the ice maker.

    • 9

Pull in the fill tube that enters the freezer on the back wall, and pull off the end cap.

    • 10

Slide the fill tube into the back of the ice maker, into the self-positioning fill tube opening. The opening is a hole in the back of the ice maker.

    • 11

Lift the ice maker up, line up the hangers on the side of the ice maker with the mounting screws, and then lower it down onto the mounting screws.

    • 12

Look under the ice maker and find the last empty screw hole and install the bottom mounting screw. Tighten it all the way in and then go back and finish tightening the top two mounting screws.

    • 13

Push the power button on the ice maker to the “On” position and lower the feeler bar.

    • 14

Plug the power cord for the refrigerator back into the electrical outlet, turn the water supply on and slide the refrigerator back into place.

    • 15

Listen for the ice maker to begin to fill. You may not hear it right away if the temperature of the freezer rose during the installation. The ice maker will activate when the freezer has reached the appropriate temperature. If you do not hear anything for a few hours, double check the wire harness connection and that the ice maker is turned to "On."
