How to Change the Water Tank in a Frigidaire FRS26ZNH Refrigerator

The water tank in a Frigidaire FRS26ZNH model refrigerator is on the inside of the unit, connected to your home's water line at the rear of the refrigerator. The tank is responsible for holding water and sending it to the freezer for the ice maker. If you notice a crack or broken piece in your water tank, you can manually remove the part and replace it with a new one at any time.

Instructions

    • 1

Move your Frigidaire FRS26ZNH refrigerator away from the wall and unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

    • 2

Turn the water supply valve on the back of your refrigerator to the “Off” position, then disconnect the water line at the bottom of the refrigerator using an adjustable wrench.

    • 3

Place a drip pan below the water solenoid valve, which is the small copper part that the water tank inlet line connects to. It is located on the bottom left side on the back of the refrigerator.

    • 4

Disconnect the water tank inlet line from the valve using an adjustable wrench. Allow for excess water to fall into the drip pan.

    • 5

Reconnect the water tank inlet line to the solenoid valve once all the water is removed, then open your refrigerator door.

    • 6

Remove the food from the refrigerator, and slide the crisper drawers all the way out. Remove the screws holding the water tank in place at the back of the refrigerator using a Phillips screwdriver.

    • 7

Lift out the water tank and disconnect the water tube from the tank using the adjustable wrench. Insert the new water tank into the same position, and reconnect the water tube to the back.

    • 8

Reinsert the screws into the front of the water tank, then return the food to the refrigerator. Slide the crispers back in and close the refrigerator door.

    • 9

Reconnect the water line at the bottom of the refrigerator, and turn the water supply valve back to the “On” position. Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet.
