How to Level a Frigidaire Single-Door Refrigerator & Single-Door Freezer

One of the last steps when installing a Frigidaire single-door refrigerator or freezer is to level the unit. The refrigerator or freezer should be level from side to side. The front of the unit however, must be slightly higher than the rear so that the door will close on its own from the half-open position. Leveling a Frigidaire single-door refrigerator or single-door freezer requires lifting the bottom of the unit off the floor.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the plastic grill at the bottom of the refrigerator or freezer unit by pulling both ends forward to release it from the unit.

    • 2

Check which type of front leveling system your unit uses. Most refrigerators use rollers that have an adjusting screw on the front of the frame. Freezers have legs with a large hex foot.

    • 3

Ask a helper to tip the top of the refrigerator or freezer toward the rear wall, raising the bottom front of the unit. While your helper holds the appliance steady, turn the adjustment screw clockwise with a flat-head screwdriver to raise the unit. If the appliance requires lowering, turn the screw counterclockwise. If it has leveling feet, use an adjustable wrench to turn the feet.

Lower the unit back onto the floor. Place a 4-foot level across the top of the Frigidaire refrigerator or freezer, pointing the ends of the level side-to-side. The appliance must be level side to side. Open the refrigerator or freezer door halfway. The doors should close on their own. Continue making adjustments as necessary. Replace the plastic grill once all adjustments are complete.
