Unplug the refrigerator and pull it out from the wall. Cover the floor, cabinets and wall with newspapers protecting them from spray paint.
Lightly sand the scratched area with 180-grit sandpaper. Wiping the sanded area with a tack cloth removes all dust.
Wash the refrigerator with mild dishwashing soap and water solution using a sponge. Let it completely dry before painting.
Mask around the damaged area with painter's tape. Allow several inches in each direction for blending the old paint with the new.
Lightly spray a coat of appliance epoxy paint over the scratched area. Wait five to 10 minutes and repeat the process. Use gentle, sweeping motions distributing the paint over the damaged area. Repeat until the scratch is invisible.
Evaluate the paint when it is completely dry. If the new paint doesn't quite match the old, lightly sand the refrigerator’s entire side. Spray the entire damaged side with two light coats of the appliance epoxy spray paint.
