How to Empty Gas From a Propane Fridge

If you're not planning on using your propane-powered refrigerator for some time, it's a good idea to disconnect its gas supply and make sure it's drained before shutting it down. Once you've done so, you can feel safe in the knowledge that it's free of any gases that could pose a risk of an explosion. You then can place your refrigerator into storage until the next time you need to use it.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut off the gas supply to your refrigerator by closing the valve that connects it to your source of propane.

    • 2

Allow any gas that remains in your refrigerator to burn off before turning off its electricity supply. Flue gases will be expelled through your refrigerator's exhaust system or ventilation passage.

    • 3

Disconnect your refrigerator from its electricity supply and leave its door open when not in use. This will stop mold from forming on the inside.
