How to Replace an Ice Dispenser Lever on a Samsung Refrigerator

Your Samsung refrigerator comes equipped with an ice and water dispenser located on the outside of the door. The dispenser is controlled via a lever, or "flapper." These levers are durable, but years of pressing the lever with cups or glasses can lead to damage. Even if your dispenser lever is damaged beyond repair, you can solve the problem yourself.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug your Samsung refrigerator power cable.

    • 2

Insert the tip of your flat-head screwdriver in the plastic housing around the dispenser. Pry up to pop the housing off.

    • 3

Pull the dispenser control panel slightly out of the door. Notice the wiring plugged into the back of the control panel. Unplug the wiring, and remove the control panel.

    • 4

Remove the screws on the dispenser housing, and remove the housing. You now have access to the flappers. Some models have two flappers, but others have a single flapper.

    • 5

Pull the flapper down to unclip it from its housing. Set the flapper aside.

    • 6

Fit a new flapper in the compartment, and slide it up until it locks in place. You can order a new flapper from the manufacturer or buy one at an appliance store. Be sure to provide your Samsung model number when purchasing a new flapper.
