# How to Install a Crystal Quest Water Filter in a Refrigerator
You can install a Crystal Quest water filter to the external water line on your refrigerator. The installation takes a few minutes and Crystal Quest recommends you replace the filter’s cartridge at least once every three months.

Scoot your refrigerator away from the wall to provide access to the water line.

Unscrew the water line end that connects to your refrigerator, using your hand or an adjustable wrench, as needed.

Screw the water line from your home into the Crystal Quest water filter’s water inlet valve end.

Screw the Crystal Quest water filter’s water outlet valve into your refrigerator's water inlet valve.

Push your refrigerator back into place.

Dump the first three batches of ice that are produced from the new filter and run three gallons of water from the water dispenser before drinking.
