Locate the temperature control knob in the refrigerator section and make sure the knob is turned below “5,” which is the warmest possible setting. This setting may make the refrigerator seem to be not cooling properly. Frigidaire recommends a temperature setting of “5” for the best results in the refrigerator section.
If the refrigerator is stored in a warm area, the refrigerator compartment may be warmer than usual. Adjust the freezer temperature control to a slightly lower number and the refrigerator temperature control to a higher number. This will send more cold air into the refrigerator. Once temperature changes are made, allow 12 hours for the temperature set point to take effect.
Placing a large amount of warm or hot food in the refrigerator can slow down or even stop the cooling in the refrigerator. Limit the amount of food set into the refrigerator at any given time to allow time for the refrigerator to cool before adding more warm food.
The condenser coils are located underneath the Frigidaire refrigerator and can get clogged with dirt. This slows down the passage of cool air through the coils, which in turn slows down the cool air entering the refrigerator. Disconnect power and then lift the toe grille from the front of the refrigerator. Use a vacuum cleaner to carefully clean the coils and then put the toe grille back. Check the coils on the back of the refrigerator and clean those coils as well if the coils are dusty or dirty.
Sometimes the reason for a refrigerator cooling problem has to do with the thermostat, compressor, condenser fan motor or the defrost system. These issues will require the attention of a professional technician. If other troubleshooting steps do not get the refrigerator cooling again, call Frigidaire for service.
