My Frigidaire FRS20ZRGD6 Refrigerator Is Not Getting Cold

The Frigidaire FRS20ZRGD6 is a refrigerator with a water and ice dispenser, meat keeper, tall storage compartment and rotary temperature control dials. If the refrigerator is not getting cold enough, basic troubleshooting efforts can often get the refrigerator cold again, although sometimes professional service is needed.
  1. Power

    • Check the power to the Frigidaire refrigerator, which is easily discernible by seeing if the light comes on when the refrigerator or freezer door is opened.Check the power cord and plug the cord in firmly to the power outlet. Replace the house fuse or reset the circuit breaker if necessary.

    Temperature Controls

    • Both the refrigerator and freezer temperature are set using rotary dials in the refrigerator compartment. Turn the controls counterclockwise toward the word “Cold” on both dials to lower the internal temperature. Allow the entire unit at least 24 hours to get colder and try to keep the doors shut as much as possible to limit the warm air that enters the refrigerator.

    Doors

    • The more often the refrigerator and freezer doors are open, the harder the unit must work to stay cold. If the doors are obstructed by food items or the door gasket is dirty or split, the door will not seal and the internal temperature will rise. Clean the door gasket with a damp cloth. If the gasket appears to be dry or brittle, add a thin layer of petroleum jelly as lubricant. If the gasket is broken, call Frigidaire for service.

    Condenser

    • The condenser coils are responsible for the cool air that enters the refrigerator and often lose cooling capacity when dirty. Unplug the refrigerator and lift off the bottom front grille. Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner with a brush tool to clean the condenser coils under the refrigerator. Clean the air vents on the back of the refrigerator rear for better air flow and more accurate cooling. Contact Frigidaire if the refrigerator still does not get cold after troubleshooting methods have been attempted.
