If the temperature control setting is too warm for the freezer, the ice in the ice maker can melt and make it look as if you have a leak. For this problem, adjust the temperature to a lower setting. Allow 12 to 24 hours for the freezer to cool down to the new setting.
A refrigerator that is not sitting level can also cause a leak. You can level the unit yourself by removing the lower front grille so that you have access to the adjustable roller legs. Once you see the legs, turn the screws counterclockwise to raise up that side of the refrigerator or clockwise to lower it. The front of the refrigerator should be a 1/4 inch higher than the back.
Pull your refrigerator out from the wall so that you can access the back of it. Take the lower access panel off the back of the refrigerator with a screwdriver so that you can see the ice maker’s valve. A leaky water valve is a common reason for an ice maker leak. If you see a leak at the valve, it may require tightening with a wrench. If the valve is faulty, consult with a qualified GE appliance technician to have it replaced.
In the same area as the water valve, you will find the fill tube. It is the tube connected to the water valve and the ice maker. It delivers the water to the ice maker. If the fill tube is leaking, it may be loose or faulty. If tightening it does not stop the leak, you need to have it replaced. A qualified GE appliance technician can assist you in getting the fill tube replaced.
