If the refrigerator is not level, this will result in water leaking from the ice maker. You can check whether the refrigerator is level by putting a level on top of the refrigerator. However, don’t place the level on the door, since it may not be properly aligned with the rest of the appliance. If the refrigerator is not level -- whether left to right or front to back -- adjust the bolts or feet on the bottom to either raise or lower the appliance as necessary. Usually, you should be able to make these adjustments by hand, but if the bolts won’t turn, use a wrench.
If the ice maker is not level, this will also cause leaking. Place a level on top of the ice maker to determine if it is level. If it isn't, undo the screws securing the ice maker, adjust its placement, then retighten the screws. Just be sure to check whether the refrigerator is level before leveling the ice maker. If the appliance isn't level, the ice maker will appear to be unlevel even if it isn't.
The ice maker will also leak if the fill cup or the fill tub is out of alignment. Water for the ice maker comes into the freezer, enters a fill tube, then flows through a fill cup into the ice mold. However, if either the fill tube or the fill cup is improperly positioned, water will not follow the correct path and will instead leak from the ice maker. Realign the fill cup and the tube so the water can flow through them correctly.
A faulty ice maker water valve or line will also cause the ice maker to leak. The valve controls the water coming into the appliance, and a malfunctioning valve will cause leaking. To inspect the water valve, turn off the water source and disconnect the water supply line. Use a pan or cup to capture any water that may seep out. Unscrew the inlet valve. Examine the valve to see if it is corroded; if it is, replace it. Also check the connections to be sure that they are tight and there are no leaks.
