Open your GE Profile Arctica refrigerator’s freezer door and locate the small grate at the top back of the freezer wall. If you have an automatic ice maker installed, slide out the ice bin to provide access to the grate.
Push in and hold down the door switch that operates the light.
Pull open the refrigerator door while looking inside the freezer at the grate. Look for the light from the cold-food side to shine through the grate, notifying you that the damper door is open and there is no repair necessary. If you do not see a light, the damper door is closed and you will need to fix the door by opening it. Complete this process in less than three minutes, because the refrigerators control board will automatically close the damper door after three minutes.
Unscrew the screw on the grate and remove the grate by pulling it away from the freezer’s wall. Once the grate is off, you will have access to the damper door.
Locate the small hex-head bolt directly under the damper door, and then turn it with a wrench until you can see the light from the refrigerator shine through. If desired, you can apply sealant onto the bolt to prevent it from turning again.
Replace the grate, and then screw it back on.
