How to Take the Freezer Part out of a Mini-Fridge

Mini-fridges are staples of dorm rooms and small apartments, allowing those without the space for a normal-sized refrigerator to keep their grocery items cool and fresh. Many mini-fridges include a small freezer compartment for ice trays and other frozen goods. If you wish to regain some of the refrigerator space taken up by the freezer compartment or have plans on re-purposing the fridge, removing the freezer is a fairly straightforward task.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the mini-fridge, remove any items stored inside and allow the refrigerator to defrost. Place towels under the fridge to soak up any melting frost.

    • 2

Locate the screws holding the freezer compartment in place. Remove the screws and then the brackets. The freezer door will come free when the brackets holding it in place are removed.

    • 3

Slide the freezer tray out when the door is removed.

    • 4

Reconnect the mini-fridge to a power source to continue using it.
