How to Change a Door Gasket on a Kenmore Elite

Elite is a line of Kenmore appliances that includes refrigerators, freezers, ranges, washers and dryers. The door gasket in your Kenmore Elite appliance keeps the unit airtight in units that require it, such as refrigerators, freezers and ranges, and watertight in front loading washers or dryers. Beyond cleaning periodically with mild detergent and a soft cloth, gaskets don’t require much maintenance. However, they do develop wear and tear over time. If your Kenmore Elite gasket has rips or tears in it, you can replace it in a quick repair.

     Remove the door frame cover by prying it away from the frame, starting from the top.

     Pull the gasket back to expose the clips and pry the clips loose from the door frame, starting in the middle and working your way out.

   • 3

     Pull the gasket free once all the clips are disconnected.

   • 4

     Position the replacement gasket on the door frame and insert each gasket bracket under the door frame and snap them into place.

   • 5

     Press the gasket into the groove of the door frame, working from top to bottom.

     Snap the door frame cover back into place, starting at the top and working your way down.
