Check the thermostat for the Payne furnace and set it to “Heat” or “On” and the temperature set at a point above the current room temperature.
Look at the thermostat settings and ensure that the thermostat is set for the correct furnace type, which in most Payne furnaces will be “Gas.”
Locate the manual gas valve attached to the furnace and rotate the valve counterclockwise until completely open to ensure the gas flow is not low or obstructed.
Turn off the power switch on the control panel and allow the furnace to cool down if necessary. Open the main access panel and inspect the condensate trap, which is located in the blower section next to the fan. Disconnect the tubing on the condensate trap and clean out any debris that may be causing an obstruction with a pipe cleaner.
Move all items away from furnace vents and registers to allow for proper airflow.
Inspect the connections on the furnace to see if there are any loose wires or plugs that may be causing the error. Contact Payne or an authorized service professional for repairs if there are any problems with the wiring or you cannot reconnect any loose plugs.
