Help to Locate the Electrical Power on a Trane XE 78 Furnace

Gas Supply

• Turn off the gas in your home before opening up your Trane XE78 furnace. Look for the gas switch on a wall near the furnace in your basement, where the switch is usually located. It is very dangerous to try to open up the casing of any furnace without turning off the gas.

Tools

• You will need a screwdriver to remove the face of the furnace. Screws hold the aluminized steel panel to the furnace body.

Accessing the Wire Switchboard

• Once you have unscrewed the screws from the face of the Trane XE78 furnace, remove the aluminized steel panel with the help of a friend. Sit on the ground so your eyes are level with the bottom half of the inside of the furnace. You will see a series of wires and the internal furnace switchboard where the electrical power in the furnace is situated.

Problems with the Trane XE78

• Sometimes a Trane XE78 can have problems with a noisy motor when you turn it on. If this happens to your furnace, contact a local heating professional to check the motor and exhaust features.
