How to Clean Wax Off of Stove Top Elements

Dripping wax on a stove burner can create a clumpy mess that will melt and wreak havoc on your appliance if you turn the burner on. You can break away large chunks of wax when necessary, but removing film and thinner components requires a gentle touch. Remove the wax gradually to avoid damaging the element's surface.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the burner off and let it cool, allowing the wax to cool. Break away any large chunks of wax, or take a thin blade to the surface to carefully remove the thicker areas of wax.

    • 2

Plug in a clothes iron and let it preheat to a medium temperature. Place a damp paper towel across the wax on the burner.

    • 3

Run the iron across the paper towel to loosen the wax and transfer it to the paper towel. Repeat the process with clean paper towels as needed.
