How Do You Test When My Furnace Won't Light a Duo Therm Trailer House?

If you live in a trailer house, mobile home or drive a recreational vehicle, you might use a Duo Therm furnace to provide heat. But just like a traditional home furnace, it’s possible to have heat problems after your Duo Therm furnace ignites. Before you pick up the phone to call a professional HVAC technician, consider troubleshooting the problem yourself.

Check the power supply connection for your Duo Therm furnace. It should be plugged in to receive a 12-volt DC current so the battery can stay charged. Otherwise, the blower won’t operate at full speed and engage the combustion switch.

Examine the fan motor for any burned or loose wires. You might need your screwdriver to access the fan motor or re-connect loose wires.

Set your thermostat to a temperature above the ambient temperature and wait one minute. If the heat doesn’t come on, it’s possible that the fan relay is defective and needs replacement.
