How to Install a D140 Oven

The Jenn-Air D140 oven is a convection oven that can be powered by electricity and/or gas as needed by the consumer. Although the ovens are no longer in production, they can be purchased as stock or previously used. Installing a D140 oven requires a working knowledge of electrical circuits so the electricity can be connected properly.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove any trays or racks from inside the oven. Remove the grills on top of the stove.

    • 2

Clear and clean the area where the oven will be installed.

    • 3

Turn off the breaker at the main circuit where the D140 will connect.

    • 4

Use a screwdriver to loosen the screws holding the electrical panel in place at the bottom of the oven.

    • 5

Use wire strippers to remove the last of the circuit wires.

    • 6

Connect the live lines (usually colored black and red) to the outermost two terminals and tighten the screws. Connect the neutral (white) wire to the center terminal. If your area does not allow grounding to run through the neutral wire, connect the bare copper ground wire to the green terminal screw located beneath the neutral terminal. Secure the cord in place with a UL listed strain relief brace at the base of the panel. Replace the panel cover.

    • 7

Use measuring tape to mark a point 14 5/8 inches to the right of the center line, which is an imaginary line drawn exactly through the center of the D140 in its final location. Place the anti-tip bracket so the open end is facing away from the wall and the right side is at the required 14 5/8 inches. Secure the anti-tip device in place with either wall or floor screws.

    • 8

Place a level on top of the D140. Use a wrench to turn the legs on the D140 until the level reads true. Turn the legs counterclockwise to raise them and clockwise to lower them.

    • 9

Move the D140 into position. Slip the rear leg into the opening at the end of the anti-tip bracket. Make further adjustments to the legs if needed.

    • 10

Restore the electricity to the D140 circuit, and replace any racks or grills.
