How to Install a GE Concord 4

The General Electric Concord 4 security system uses wireless sensors throughout your home to help prevent break-ins, and the system can easily be installed using the installation manual and tools that come with the system. For the most effective use of the security system, you should have a professional help with the wiring and installation, but setting up the controls can be done by any homeowner. For example, you can set up the control panel to your wall and set up the system to determine which wireless sensors you want turned on.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine where you want to install your GE Concord 4 security system control panel, such as near the front door of your home. Also, make sure electric wires are set up for the control panel, and contact a professional electrician if you aren't replacing a previously installed system and there are no wires available to hook your control panel to that wall.

    • 2

Turn off the electrical power to the system from your home's main circuit breaker before connecting the wires to the control panel.

    • 3

Place the Concord 4 control panel on the wall, and mark the mounting holes at the bottom and top of the control panel using a pencil.

    • 4

Take the control panel off the wall, and drill 1/4-inch holes into the marks you made.

    • 5

Connect the electrical wires to the back of the control panel's terminal. Refer to the installation manual that comes with the Concord 4 for further help on electrical wire connection.

    • 6

Place the control panel onto the wall, and secure it by installing the screws and anchors, which come with the installation kit, into the mounting holes.

    • 7

Turn the electrical power back on from the home circuit breaker, then press "8," "4321," "0," and "0" in that order on the control pad. The display will read, "System Programming."

    • 8

Press the "B" option until the display reads "Sensors," and press the "#" key. Continue to press the "#" key to select the options for setting up the sensors in your home.

    • 9

Press the "*" key to enter the "System Programming" mode again, and press the "A" key until the display reads "Exit Programming Ready." Press the "#" key, and the time and date will appear on the display.
