Check the Crown oil boiler power cord and plug the cord into a live electrical outlet if the boiler is not operating. Use an outlet with 120-volt power or more. Reset or replace the circuit breaker or fuse as needed. Turn the primary power switch to “On” if the boiler was turned off.
Find the manual oil valve connected to the boiler and rotate counterclockwise to open fully if the valve is not completely open. Check the oil tank and contact your oil provider for assistance if the oil level in the tank is low.
Move the power switch on the thermostat to “Auto” or “Heat” and turn up the temperature if the furnace is not heating as expected but has oil and power. The oil boiler may take 10 to 15 minutes to begin to run.
Push the “Oil Primary Reset Button” on the Crown boiler user control panel if the furnace has locked out due to overheating. Repeat up to three times to restore power to the boiler. Turn off the boiler after three attempts and contact Crown Boiler or another service professional for assistance.
Disconnect power to the boiler and allow the unit to cool before opening the burner access door if the burner is cycling quickly or locking out. Locate the burner flame sensor next to the burner. Clean the burner flame sensor with a clean, dry cloth and point the cell at the flame.
Turn off power to the boiler and allow the unit to cool completely. Clean out the burner oil nozzle with a clean cloth if the burner flame is low or is cycling in short cycles. Look at the nozzle for excess wear or damage and contact Crown Boiler for replacement if necessary.
Disconnect power to the broiler, allow the unit to cool and then open the ports on the upper front of the oil burner if the furnace is not operating correctly or runs constantly. Look inside with a flashlight at the heat exchanger if necessary with a long wire-handle brush.
Keep all dampers and registers along the heating distribution system open and clear if the thermostat is set to a warm enough temperature and there is oil and power but the furnace does not seem to heat as expected. Disconnect power and allow the boiler to cool. Remove the air filter from the blower access panel. Clean the air filter with soapy water, rinse and dry. Replace the filter inside the furnace. Look at the blower wheel next to the blower motor for possible blockages or obstruction and remove the debris if necessary.
Increase the fan limit control differential on the control panel by placing the fan “Off” point at 30 degrees Fahrenheit below the set fan “On” setting.
