How to Troubleshoot the Nordyne FEHB-015HA Central Electric Furnace

The Nordyne central electric furnace, model number FEHB-015HA, is a residential unit that uses electricity instead of oil or gas to heat the furnace and send warm air through the air ducts in the house. Furnace owners should schedule an inspection and cleaning once a year to keep the furnace functioning well. But if the furnace has not been checked out or sometimes even if it has, problems might arise that require some troubleshooting.

Instructions

    • 1

Find the main power switch on the Nordyne electric furnace and move the switch to “On” if the furnace is not operating. Replace or reset the fuse or circuit breaker if needed.

    • 2

Push the access panel to make sure the panel is closed if the furnace is turned “On” but is not running since the furnace will not operate if the access panel is ajar. Note that Nordyne does not recommend that homeowners open the access panel at any time to service the unit. Contact Nordyne instead.

    • 3

Turn the furnace thermostat to “Heat” or “Auto” and increase the set temperature above the current ambient temperature.

    • 4

Remove the filter from the side of the furnace and clean the filter with soapy water, rinse and allow to dry completely if the furnace is not working as expected. Slide the filter back into position.

    • 5

Wipe the inside of the furnace cabinet and the exterior of the furnace cabinet with a clean cloth if the Nordyne furnace seems to be whistling or rattling during use and make sure the area around the furnace is not obstructed by other items.
