How to Troubleshoot P5 AC Inverters Yasgawa Omron to Board Level

Power inverters -- such as the Yasgawa Omron P5 -- are used to convert an electrical current from alternating (AC) to direct (DC). These inverters can be used with a wide range of electrical devices, such as pulse generators, solar panels, and batteries. If you believe that there is a problem with one of the boards on your inverter, you can easily troubleshoot the device by reading the troubleshooting code it displays.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn your inverter on and read the troubleshooting code that is displayed on its screen.

    • 2

Interpret the troubleshooting code based on the information that is in your inverter's manual. For example, a code of "PGO PG Open" indicates that feedback pulses are not being received by the inverter's PG board.

    • 3

Perform the corrective action that is indicated by your manual. For example, in the case of a "PGO PG Open" troubleshooting code, you must check the wire that connects the pulse generator to the inverter. Make sure that the wire is not damaged and is connected securely.

Take your inverter to an electronics repair service to have the inverter board in question replaced. (Perform this step only if your troubleshooting action does not fix the inverter.)
