My Kitchenaid Superba Oven Probe Won't Turn Off

The KitchenAid Superba oven has several cooking features, including a hidden heating element, convection fan, traditional cooking and broiling options and a temperature probe. The probe can be plugged into the oven wall and inserted into poultry or meat to accurately monitor the cooking temperature of the food. If the probe won’t turn off, there are a few possible reasons why.
  1. Probe Function

    • The temperature probe on the KitchenAid Superba oven is designed to help track when items are done cooking. While the probe can monitor internal temperatures in food, the probe should not be used to track undercooked meat, which can contain harmful bacteria that can make you sick. Always cut open and check meat for doneness before consuming.

    Proper Probe Operation

    • To use the probe properly, insert the probe needle into the thickest area of the meat or poultry, keeping the probe away from fatty areas or bone. Set the food inside the KitchenAid oven and plug the other end of the probe into the jack on the oven wall until firmly connected. Making sure the probe is firmly inserted both into the food and the oven will help ensure proper operation. Close the oven door and enter the desired internal temperature for the probe to monitor, then press the desired cooking operation. Push “Start” to begin cooking.

    Probe Troubleshooting

    • If the temperature probe will not shut off even after the desired internal temperature is reached, press “Cancel/Off” or the “Cancel/Off” keypad for the selected oven. Open the oven door and use an oven mitt to disconnect the oven probe from the oven. Wait a few seconds, then reconnect the temperature probe in the oven. Reset the desired probe temperature on the oven control panel, followed by the cooking operation and “Start.” If the probe continues to malfunction, turn the oven off and call KitchenAid for help.

    Tips

    • When using the oven temperature probe, insert the probe at least 1/2-inch into the poultry, meat or liquid casserole item. In addition, keep the probe away from the heat source in the KitchenAid oven, as this can interfere with proper temperature maintenance.
