Items stored in the drawer must lie flat inside of the appliance, and they should not be stacked on top of each other as this increases the likelihood of drawer jams. Items thrown in the drawer shift around when the drawer is pulled open and closed and may get caught in the drawer's rails on the sides of the drawer.
The roller hinge on the front of the drawer may be broken, which prevents the drawer from rolling into place when pushed in or pulled out. A broken hinge requires professional repair to replace the roller hinge and restore use of the drawer. Do not attempt to force the drawer open if the hinge is broken, as this can lead to further damage of the hinge and the drawer.
The drawer should be used for cooking utensils rather than cookware, as cookware takes up a large amount of space and increases the risk of a sticking drawer. Wrap a rubber band around the handle of your cooking utensils to keep them organized and to avoid having a cluttered drawer. Stack them so that they are no more than two inches high from the bottom of the drawer to prevent the utensils from becoming jammed in the drawer.
Empty as many utensils from the drawer as possible, and lift the drawer up and out from the range to disconnect it from the range's railing. The railing has a drawer stop at the front of the range's opening to prevent the drawer from falling out when opened, and the railing must be aligned to the drawer in order to reattach the storage drawer to the range.
