Kenmore Electric Stove Makes an Alarming Noise

The Kenmore electric range features a digital screen to display cooking controls and error messages, and alerts in the form of an alarm to indicate control problems or the end of a timer. Errors with your electric range typically require professional service, as control board issues on the appliance are not reparable through basic troubleshooting.
  1. Control Errors

    • A control error or fault occurs when the appliance detects a problem with its electronic control board and will flash the letter "F" along with a number on its display screen to specify the type of error. The Kenmore range includes a manual that allows you to match the error code. Basic errors are correctable by pressing "Stop/Clear" on the control panel to clear the error and stop the beeping sound.

    Power Issues

    • Previous issues with your home's power supply can cause the electric range to emit a loud beeping noise when powered on. The beeping noise can be stopped by power cycling the range, which temporarily interrupts power between the electric range and the electric outlet. The alert stops once the range is unplugged for at least one minute and requires reprogramming the electric range's settings, including its clocks and previously stored settings to resume use.

    Temperature Issues

    • Problems with the oven's temperature settings results in the range beeping three times in a row to alert you of the issue. The range is set to a default temperature for optimized cooking and beeps repeatedly when the temperate is set too low or high for safe cooking. The cooking feature is adjustable by pressing the cooking option (bake, preheat, broil) followed by pushing the up or down arrow to adjust the temperature.

    Cooking Timer

    • The electric stove emits a long beep when the timer has finished and is an alert to notify you that your set timer is done. The beep does not interrupt the cooking process and requires immediate action to ensure the food is not accidentally overcooked.
