Troubleshooting Tips for a Thermador RED30V Oven

Thermador ovens have six different potential rack positions, a cooling fan, convection cooking, self cleaning, door lock and an electronic control panel. It's easy to think that nothing could go wrong with an oven so prepared to perform so many tasks, but problems with the Thermador oven might arise over the course of operation and require some troubleshooting to resolve.
  1. Power and Temperature

    • Select a higher oven temperature if the oven does not seem to be heating. Make sure there is power to the oven. If there is no power to the oven, look to see if nearby appliances have power. If there is no power, a system-wide power outage has happened and the oven will work again when power is restored. If other appliances have power but the oven does not, reset or replace the fuse or circuit breaker.

    Cooking Results

    • The best way to ensure proper cooking results is to monitor food while cooking. Remember to preheat the oven prior to putting food in to cook if baking results are uneven or unexpected. Place food on the center rack in the center of the oven whenever possible for best air and heat flow, and resist opening the oven door during cooking if food cooks more slowly or is unevenly cooked when done. Use the oven light switch to view food while cooking. When using convection cooking, select a cooking temperature of 25 degrees Fahrenheit less than the traditional recipe temperature if convection cooking results in overcooked food.

    Oven Light and Controls

    • Wait for the oven to cool and use a cloth to remove the light bulb cover if the light is not working. Use a cloth to gently tighten or replace the light bulb, but do not touch the bulb with your fingers as this may cause damage to the bulb and result in failure. If none of the control pad key buttons are working, touch the key pad with a clean, dry finger and evenly touch the center of the touch key. Wipe the key pad dry with a towel if the key pad is damp and let dry before pressing the buttons again.

    Self-cleaning

    • Let the oven cool completely before starting self-clean mode if self-clean will not turn on. Wipe out loose soils or spills before starting the self-clean cycle for best results and set the self-clean mode for longer if oven is very dirty. Disconnect power to the Thermador oven at the circuit breaker if the oven door is locked following a self-cleaning process, even when the door indicator shows “unlocked.” Wait five minutes and then restore the breaker. The door should open.

    Error Code

    • Press “Info” if there is an “E” fault code with a number. Instructions will appear on the display to help clear and resolve the code. If following the instructions does not clear the code, disconnect power to the oven and contact Thermador for service.
