If you can roll the heavy wood stove, then you don't have to deal with as much of the weight. Lay down several pieces of plumbing pipe, which make effective rollers. Make sure you use a durable plumbing pipe that can handle the heavy weight of the stove. Roll the stove out of or into the kitchen where it's being moved.

Open a bag of cubed ice and spill all of the cubes into a pile on the floor. Spread out the cubes to make a small pathway out of them. Set the stove on top of the ice and use the ice to move the stove out or in. The ice creates a slippery effect, which is useful for moving heavy items, since it does some of the work for you. This only works on hard surfaces--not carpeting--and you must make sure it's safe to put ice and water on the floor surface.

Remove any wooden parts of the stove that cause obstruction, such as the legs. You might need to saw the legs off in order to move the stove effectively, and then can reattach the legs once you get the stove to its end location.

Set down a portable ramp if you have to take the heavy wooden stove up or down the steps. Even if you are just going up or down a single step, don't try to wiggle the stove up or down, because this can cause an injury. Instead, set the ramp down and use it to safely navigate the stove.
