How to Install a Cheetah Wall Mount

Choose a wall with no decorations or light fixtures that is large enough to accommodate the television and mount. If you’re unsure how large the space must be, measure the television diagonally, side to side and top to bottom, and measure out those dimensions against the wall. Cheetah wall mounts are manufactured according to the size of the television and the space requirements are outlined in the instructions.

Turn the stud finder on and run it slowly over the wall until the indicator light turns from red to green. Mark the studs on the wall with a pencil.

Measure the distance between the left and right mounting bracket arms, and place a small "X" over each stud as a guide for each bracket hole. The bracket should be installed at a comfortable viewing height for each seat in the room, with the center of the television screen rising about 40 inches from the floor.

Place a level against the wall and align the mounting bracket hole marks with the level. Many Cheetah wall mounts come with built-in levels, but these sometimes break during transit.

Drill a small pilot hole over each mark to indicate the proper placement for the screws. Hold the drill steady to make sure the pilot holes are even, or the screws won't be straight and the wall mount may shift under the weight of the television.

Hold the mounting bracket over the pilot holes and screw the bracket onto the wall. Smaller Cheetah television mounts include screws for a Phillips screwdriver, while larger units have bolts that require a socket wrench, so pick the proper tool based on the size of the television.

Locate the mounting bracket holes on the back of your television, and pop the little plastic caps off the holes with a flat screwdriver. Lay the television portion of the bracket over the holes on the television, and attach it carefully with the enclosed screws.

Ask a helper to help you lift the television into place, and slide the unit onto the arms on the wall bracket. Push down slowly on the television to feed the television bracket as far down the arms as possible, and tighten the small screws on the side of the arm to lock the television into place. Connect all cables to the proper ports on the television, and plug the unit into a nearby power outlet.
