Hold the T-square up to the set saw blade at a right angle. Move the pointer on the tilt gauge to “0” to fine tune the tilt gauge. The tilt gauge is located on the front of the main body of the saw, right below the cutting table and above the Craftsman logo. The tilt gauge is a wheel of numbers in the main body of the saw.
Place the T-square on the miter gauge to block it off while it’s in the square position. Turn on the saw and cut a wide board. Check to make sure the cut is accurate. If the cut is accurate, it will be at a perfect right angle. Move the pointer on the miter gauge to “90.” The miter gauge is located on the front of the saw, directly in front of the blade in the miter assembly. The miter is the part of the saw that determines the angle of your cut, and the miter gauge is the numbered wheel in the miter assembly.
Place the rip fence on the right side of the blade. Move the left indicator to “2” on the fence slide gear rack. The fence gauge is located on the front of the rip fence, which is the long metal bar parallel to the right side of the blade. The rip fence can also be moved parallel to the left side of the blade. The rip fence guides the wood through the saw blade and determines where the cut will be made. If you move it 1 inch to the right, the left fence will read "1" for 1 inch of space between the blade and rip fence. This adjustment makes sure the rip fence will guide your cuts straight and evenly on both sides of the blade.
Locate the cam clam rod nut in the back of the fence. Turn the nut with your hand clockwise to tighten it or counterclockwise to loosen it. When the nut is properly adjusted the clamping lever will lock horizontally.
