How to Replace an Electric Range Coil Top on an Induction Cooker

Induction cookers heat by using a magnetic field rather than thermal heat. The cookers require that you use cookware made from ferrous metals that will help generate a magnetic current from the burner coils; otherwise, the pan will not heat. The cook top on an induction cooker is glass and may crack if you drop a heavy item on it, use the wrong cookware or spill sugary items onto the glass while it is hot. The glass can be removed, which will allow you to replace it without damaging the internal parts of the cooker.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the induction cooker’s power cord from the electrical outlet.

    • 2

Remove the screws along the cook top’s edge to allow removal of the glass top. If you are unsure where the screws are located, refer to the owner’s manual for your induction cooker.

    • 3

Lift the trim frame off of the cook top and set it aside.

    • 4

Lift the glass top out of the induction cooker. Wear gloves if the glass is broken. Wipe the area with a moist cloth to remove any shards of glass.

    • 5

Insert the new glass top. Lay the glass down so that the burner outlines on the glass match up with the burners that are inside the induction cooker.

    • 6

Replace the frame around the glass then screw the frame back into place.

    • 7

Plug the power cord back into the outlet.
