Aire-Flo Furnace Problems

The Aire-Flo furnace is a gas-fired unit for the home, meaning that the furnace must be installed with proper ventilation and venting to operate properly and safely. Other safety precautions include the installation of a carbon monoxide detector in the home. Carbon monoxide cannot be smelled or tasted, and a carbon monoxide leak can be deadly. Operating the Aire-Flo furnace may require troubleshooting as the device ages or parts become clogged or dirty.

Instructions

Restart the Aire-Flo furnace if a power failure has occurred and the furnace is not operating. Set the home thermostat to the lowest setting and open the burner control door on the furnace. Rotate the gas control knob to “On” and close the burner control door firmly. Switch on the furnace power and reset the thermostat to a temperature higher than room temperature for the furnace burners to light. Wait for the burners to stay lit for a few minutes and then adjust the thermostat if desired.

Dispose of the furnace filter if the air flow to or from the furnace seems restricted and replace it with a new filter. Clean the filter instead if it is marked “Permanent” on the filter housing. Use warm, soapy water to clean and then rinse the filter well and let the filter dry before putting it back in the furnace.

Turn off the Aire-Flo furnace and allow the unit to cool if the furnace is noisy during operation. Open the control door and use a long-handled brush to clean dust off the motor exterior and the blower wheel. Clean the burner orifice if it's dirty or dusty and then close the control door and restore power.

Find the condensate drain line on the bottom of the furnace and use a flashlight to check the discharge end. Clean out the drain line if it's clogged.
