How to Replace the Glass Top on a Hotpoint Countertop Stove

A Hotpoint glass top stove is powered by electricity. The glass over the burners gives you a flat and smooth cooktop for easy cleanup. If the glass over the stove’s burners breaks or cracks, you need to replace it before you can use your stove again. Luckily, Hotpoint stoves have plug-in burners that can be easily moved from one glass top to another.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the Hotpoint stove from the wall socket. Open the oven and unscrew the screws in the oven’s ceiling that hold the glass top to the range. Lift up the glass and unplug the main burner plug from the range.

    • 2

Lay several towels on a flat surface. Place the new glass top and the broken glass top on the towels.

    • 3

Pull the burner plugs out of the old glass top, and then plug them into the new glass top. Plug each burner into the plug of the right size. Small burner plugs need small burner outlets, while larger burner plugs need larger burner outlets. Hold the plug up to the burner outlets on the new glass top to check if it fits. If it fits, plug it in. If the plug is the wrong size for that outlet, try another burner to find the right outlet for the burner plug.

Place the glass top with the burners facedown onto the Hotpoint range, and then plug the main burner plug into the range. Lay the glass top flat on the range. Screw the glass top down with the screws in the oven.
