Open all underlying cabinet doors in the location you wish to install the stove top. Remove all items from inside the cabinet to provide space to work. If there are drawers above the cabinets, remove them as well.
Read the instructions for the stove top to determine the size of hole needed in the counter and draw an outline on top of the counter using a tape measure and pencil.
Don safety glasses and insert a 1/2-inch drill bit into a drill. Create a hole in each corner of the outline, penetrating all the way through the counter. Set the drill aside and insert the blade of a jigsaw through one hole. Cut along the outline using the jigsaw and then remove the center portion of the counter and discard it.
Unpack the electric stove top from the packaging and insert it into the hole in the counter. Ensure the electrical wires drop into the center of the hole and don’t get caught under the edge of the appliance.
Kneel down and peer under the bottom of the stove top. Place one of the provided brackets at the rear of the stove top over the pre-drilled screw hole. Position the other end of the bracket over the counter and insert the two provided screws into each end using a power drill. If your counter top is stone, pre-drill the counter hole with a 1/4-inch masonry drill bit.
Install additional brackets at each corner of the stove top, or as specified by the manufacturer’s instructions.
Locate the stove top’s electrical cord inside the cabinet and plug it into a nearby electrical outlet.
Exit the cabinet and assemble the top of the stove, if applicable, using the manufacturer's instructions. Assembly typically includes setting the burners and burner grills in their proper locations. Turn on one of the knobs on the electric stove top to ensure that the burners come on and function as designed. Replace the drawers and close the cabinet doors.
