The first thing your Frigidaire cooktop burner needs to light a flame is gas. If your unit is sparking but there’s no flame, the gas isn’t getting to the burner. Start by checking that the burner vents aren’t clogged with grease or food. Then check that the unit has working line to the gas valve and the valve is open. Finally, make sure that you aren’t experiencing a service outage.
The other utility service you need for your Frigidaire stove burners to work is electricity. Your ignitor either heats or sparks using electricity. First, check that the service is on. Then verify that the stove is securely and completely plugged into a working outlet. Check the fuse box for the fuse associated with that outlet to ensure it’s working correctly, too.
If the gas and electricity are in working order, it’s possible that your ignitor is bad. To check your ignitor, open your burner assembly to view it. Then use a multimeter to measure the amperage of the ignitor. The amount of ohms it should read depends on the unitm but if it shows zero or infinity, the ignitor is not working. You can replace it by ordering the part from Frigidaire (800-374-4432) and using your service manual to guide your repair.
If your Frigidaire stove has a warranty on it, only a Frigidaire certified repair technician can work on it without voiding the warranty. Even if you don’t have a warranty, you may feel more comfortable having someone familiar with your unit disassembling it. In either case, contact Frigidaire customer service to set up a service call (800-374-4432).
