How to Brace a Door Frame for a Perfect Gym

The Perfect Gym is small piece of exercise equipment that attaches to a standard door frame so that you can do pullups or chinups at home. You can also place the unit on the floor to do triceps dips or enhanced pushups. It is important that you install the Perfect Gym correctly and that the door frame you use is suitable to hold the unit and your body weight. Make a few important safety checks before you try the Perfect Gym so you know you can workout safely.

Instructions

    • 1

Assemble the Perfect Gym according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

    • 2

Measure the top of the door frame to ensure it is between 27 and 35 inches wide.

    • 3

Inspect both sides of the top of the frame and pull on them with your hands to ensure they aren’t loose or cracked.

    • 4

Slide the safety clip down into the center of one side of the top of the door frame so the horizontal part rests on the frame and the vertical part sticks straight up.

    • 5

Hold the Perfect Gym so the protruding handles are on the opposite side of the door frame than the safety clip. Slide the unit down onto the safety clip, then let it rest naturally on the door frame, so it is snug.

    • 6

Reach up and hold onto the handles of the Perfect Gym while standing on the floor and pull down with your body weight. Lift your feet up off the floor to ensure it can support your weight before you try full chinups.
