How to Replace the Glass on a Frigidaire GLEFZ379FC Oven

The glass in the door of your Frigidaire GLEFZ379FC oven is tempered to withstand high temperatures and the occasional bump; but after several years of heavy use or a sudden accident, the glass may crack or shatter. Replacing the glass involves removing and partially disassembling the door. With common household tools, this task is relatively simple to do on your own. You can purchase a replacement pane of glass for your oven through Frigidaire.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the oven door as wide as possible and locate the pair of screws above each hinge on the inside of the door. Remove the screws and insert them into the holes in the side of hinge. The screws slide into place and do not need to be tightened.

    • 2

Lift the door so it is open 45 degrees then slide it up and off its hinges. Set the door inside-up on a towel so you don't scratch any of the outer trim.

    • 3

Remove the pair of screws at the top of the inner panel of the door and set them to one side. Slide the inner panel of the door downward and remove it from the appliance. If the inner pane is broken, you can now lift it out. Watch for sharp pieces of glass.

    • 4

Take out the four screws at the bottom of the door to remove the next layer of the door. Lift the trim up and out to access the outer glass. Remove the broken pane and insert the new one in place.

    • 5

Replace the layer of trim over the outer panel and replace the four screws at the bottom of the door. Slide the remaining piece of trim into position and replace the screws at the top of the door.

    • 6

Lower the door back onto its hinges, which should still be held at a 45-degree angle by the hinge screws. Open the door as wide as possible, remove the screws from the holes in the hinge and screw them back into their original holes.
