Replacing the Dial on a KitchenAid Superba Stove

KitchenAid Superba ranges have several infinite switches, commonly referred to as "dials," which control the burners on the stove top. Each burner has its own infinite switch that controls the level of heat produced by the burner. After regular use of the stove, one of the infinite switches may become unresponsive, preventing you from controlling the burner. Often, this happens when the burner is on, and it prevents you from turning off the burner. To repair the range, replace the faulty infinite switch.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the range breaker in your home's service panel.

    • 2

Pull each burner knob off of the control panel.

    • 3

Release the clips on the center-left and center-right infinite switch slots that secure the control panel glass to the top of the control panel.

    • 4

Lift the front portion of the control panel glass, and then slide the control panel glass out of the control panel flange. Remove the control panel glass.

    • 5

Move the range far enough away from the wall so that the screws on the left and right sides of the control panel are accessible. Remove the screws.

    • 6

Remove the two screws on the top of the end caps on the control panel.

    • 7

Open the oven door, and locate the three screws securing the control panel to the range.

    • 8

Move the control panel forward, and then lift the front of the panel to remove it from the range.

    • 9

Remove the two mounting screws securing the faulty infinite switch to the control panel.

    • 10

Rotate the control panel up, and rest it face-down on the glass-top stove.

    • 11

Pull the faulty infinite switch out of the control panel.

    • 12

Transfer the wires from the old infinite switch to a new infinite switch.

    • 13

Install the new infinite switch into the control panel, using the screws that were removed from the old infinite switch to secure the new switch.

    • 14

Reassemble the control panel by reversing the steps taken to disassemble it.

    • 15

      Restore the range's power source.
