How to Pull a GE True Temp Oven Out of the Wall

GE True Temp ovens are available as free-standing electric, free-standing gas and wall-mounted electric versions. Wall-mounted ovens like the GE True Temp are installed into cabinet spaces, and suspended above the kitchen floor at varying heights. The installation process for a True Temp oven requires a series of brackets and braces, all of which must be removed when the oven is taken out again. To pull your own GE True Temp oven out of the wall, you will require some basic tools and a plan.

Turn off the power supply to your electric wall oven at your home breaker box. Remove the oven door. Open the door and locate the two mounting brackets at the base of the door on either side. Use your hands to swivel the locks upward and outward from the oven unit until the door is no longer locked in place. Lift the door off of the oven and place it aside. If the hinge locks are stuck, use a flat-head screwdriver to get them moving.

Locate the metal strips of trim along the bottom of the oven. Locate the two mounting screws on the inside bottom of the oven opening, which hold your metal trim in place on the oven. Use your screwdriver to loosen and remove the mounting screws. Use your flat-head screwdriver to pry off the trim and place it aside. Models with plastic trim do not have mounting screws.

Follow the electric line that protrudes from the rear of your True Temp oven to the junction box to which it is connected. Use your screwdriver to remove the metal cover from your electrical junction box. Disconnect your oven power wires, and loosen the clamp holding your electrical conduit to the box.
