Wet the non-abrasive sponge with hot water, and squeeze 1 teaspoon of dishwashing liquid soap onto the sponge's surface.
Turn the cooktop's control knobs to the off position, and pull them off of the cooktop.
Rub the soap-dampened sponge onto the control knob to remove residue, and rinse the knobs under the running water.
Blot the knobs dry with a soft cloth, and insert them back onto the cooktop's control panel.
Pour five to six drops of the cooktop cleaning solution directly onto the cooktop. Rub the Cerama Bryta cleaning pad onto the cooktop surface to eliminate hardened residue.
Rub the cooktop's surface in a circular motion with a paper towel to eliminate residue. Pour two to three drops of the cooktop cleaning solution onto the cooktop, and buff the appliance's surface to maintain its shine.
Check the circuit breaker or fuse box in your home. A tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse prevents the cooktop from heating, and fixing it requires flipping the circuit breaker's power switch or removing and replacing the blown fuse from the fuse box. When it is inoperable, the fuse's middle glass area appears cloudy instead of clear.
