Wipe up spilled and splattered food as soon as you can while it is still wet.
Clean the cook top after each use with a sponge or rag damped with water and your regular dish soap. Wipe clean with plain water for a great shine.
Spray stubborn food stains and grease with a nonabrasive liquid cleanser, and wipe immediately with a soft towel. Straight white vinegar or window-cleaning solutions containing vinegar work well for this purpose.
Wipe down the cook top with stronger cleaning fluids if they are still stained or there is burnt food that won't come up with gentler products. Make sure to wipe the surface a second time with a cloth dampened in water to remove residual film that may be left by the cleaning product.
Use a nonmetallic scouring pad and a mild abrasive cleanser for the most stubborn stains. Rub gently and in the direction of the grain you see on your stove top.
Spray the most stubborn, burned-on foods with oven cleaner to remove them. Allow it to sit for a few minutes or longer to loosen the soiled cook top.
