Remove the unit’s warming tray, which is located above the grill grate. This is generally removed by simply pulling it out or depressing any metal clips that hold the warming tray in place. Set the warming tray aside.
Insert the rotisserie’s motor into the side bracket of the grill. This bracket is located on either the left or right side of the grill’s outer shell.
Insert either of the rotisserie forks onto the spit rod, paying attention that the prongs are facing away from the rod’s handle.
Push the spit rod through the center of your meat. Slide the second rotisserie fork through the other side of the meat. Adjust the spit rod and rotisserie forks until the prongs are securely inserted in the meat.
Tighten the wing nuts found on both rotisserie forks to secure the meat on the spit rod. If your meat is still teetering slightly, secure it to the rotisserie forks with a single piece of butcher’s string.
Lower the spit rod, meat and second rotisserie fork onto the supports on the KitchenAid grill. Insert the second rotisserie fork into the rotisserie motor.
Plug the rotisserie motor into a secure three-prong outlet.
Locate the manual lighting extension, which is found inside the grill’s drip tray. Remove the lighting extension and insert a match into the clip.
Light the match and hold the flame near the rotisserie’s burner.
Turn the rotisserie knob to “Lite/Hi” setting. Hold the knob in this position for at least 10 seconds, or until the rotisserie burner ignites.
