A Reliable Steam Boiler

The Reliable Steam Engine Company is a U.S.-based steam heating company and has manufactured steam boilers since its inception in the 1960s. The steam heating company provides several models of steam boilers: Ofeldt, Roberts and Monotube. Like other steam boilers, the power of a Reliable units is measured in boiler horsepower units, or BHP. Reliable offers additional components, such as steam atomizing oil burners and water separators, to enhance their boilers' performances.
  1. Ofeldt

    • Ofeldt was the first steam boiler created by Reliable. At the time of publication, Reliable has two Ofeldt steam boilers on the market. The smaller of the Ofeldt models has 4 to 7 BHP units and produces up to 175 pounds of steam per hour. The rated working pressure of the Ofeldt steam boiler is 200 psi, while its test pressure is 300 psi. The larger Ofeldt boiler provides 15 to 40 BHP and has a 40 square-feet heating surface. Both models allow wood, fuel oil or kerosene as fuel for energy.

    Roberts

    • Reliable's Roberts steam boiler offers 10 BHP and has a heating surface of 80 square-feet. This type of steam boiler only operates on wood. The Roberts is a water-tube boiler. A water tube boiler consists of a series of tubes filled with continuously running water. A fire within the boiler heats up the tubes' water, which creates steam. In the Roberts boiler, the unit gathers steam in its steam drum before releasing it into the house. The Roberts boiler has two drums, the steam drum and the mud drum; the mud drum is where the boiler stores water sediments.

    Monotube Boiler I

    • The smaller of Reliable's two Monotube Boilers offers 15 to 40 BHP and a heating surface area of 49 square-feet. Fuel oil and kerosene are the two types of fuel this monotube boiler accepts. This monotube boiler prevents flooding with its heating coil design. The collection of the monotube boiler's coils have increasing diameters, and are located one inside the other and connected to one another. The 15 to 40 BHP monotube boiler also has a steam atomizing oil burner; this accessory eliminates the need of a boiler fan by vaporizing the unit's oil mixture with steam.

    Monotube Boiler II

    • Reliable's larger monotube boiler has 50 to 125 BHP and rated working pressure of 1,000 psi. This model uses fuel oil or kerosene as fuel sources. This unit has a heating surface of 80 square-feet. According to Reliable, this monotube boiler has more powerful burners than the smaller monotube boiler. Reliable offers water separators for its monotube boilers. Water separators prevent water from being carried with the unit's steam. If water is carried over from the steam, it may overwork the boiler's engine.
