Panel Heater Installation

An electric panel heater can provide an extra bit of warmth in a room that may not receive adequate heat from the house’s heating system. It’s suitable for placement in a bathroom as long as you cannot reach the controls from the bathtub or shower. Panel heater installation is simple enough that an inexperienced person can hang one. It does need to have a suitable electric outlet located within 3 feet of it. Do not plan to install the panel heater near doors or windows or you may lose some energy efficiency.

Instructions

    • 1

Measure up 12 inches from the floor for the ideal placement of the base of the panel heater. Mark this as a line that's the width of the panel heater. Use a carpenter’s level to ensure the line is level.

    • 2

Mark the location of the four mounting screws using the template from the panel heater packaging. Take care to align the bottom of the template with the line you drew in Step 1. Double-check your marks for accuracy.

    • 3

Drill holes in the wall for the mounting screws using the drill bit specified by your panel heater’s instructions. Slip one of the wall anchors included in the assembly kit into each of the holes.

    • 4

Place a screw from the assembly kit into one of the mounting holes on the front of the panel heater. Thread a bushing onto the screw. Repeat for the remaining three screws.

    • 5

Set the ends of the screws into the openings on the wall anchors. Partially tighten the screws into the anchors. Check that the panel heater remains level. Then tighten the screws the rest of the way into the wall.

    • 6

Attach screw caps from the assembly kit to the screw heads by pressing them firmly in place.

    • 7

Plug the panel heater into a nearby electrical outlet. Follow the manufacturer’s directions for operation.
