A gas valve safety lock connects directly to the fuel valve on a propane gas tank or the line for a natural gas connection. The mechanism rotates to the locked position to prevent the gas valve from opening. On outdoor propane tanks, added security may include a padlock with the clasp looped through the valve safety lock. This prevents tampering with the tank valve or the valve from opening accidentally. Removing the lock takes only a few minutes using basic tools.
