How to Bleed the Gas Line on My Miller Mobile Home Furnace

A Nordyne Miller oil furnace can be used to heat small homes, including mobile homes. The furnace uses heating oil as the primary fuel instead of natural gas. The lines of an oil furnace may occasionally need to be bled to release excess air due to a refilled or low oil tank or other adjustments made to the unit. Bleeding the lines should only be done by an adult familiar with operating the furnace and capable of performing the task safely.

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the power to the Miller furnace and allow the furnace to cool if the unit is warm.

    • 2

Put an empty container under the oil pump, where the pressure purge valve is located.

    • 3

Place a 1/4-inch I.D. plastic tube on the air bleed valve, which is located on the oil pump, and set the other end of the plastic tub in the empty container.

    • 4

Pull the door interlock switch out to turn the furnace back on. Slowly open the purge valve one-half turn and allow water and oil to dispense out of the valve.

    • 5

Attach a wire to jump terminals "T-T" or "F-F" on the primary control to ensure furnace operation while the bleeding process takes place.

    • 6

Close the valve firmly once no more air or oil comes out of the valve.

    • 7

Remove the wires from the terminals and restart the oil furnace as usual.
