How to Fix Chipped Paint on a GE Profile Microwave

Ge Profile microwaves, like most microwave ovens, are built with a protective layer of enamel painted on the surface metal to inhibit rust; they are available in different colors to complement the decor of the kitchen. Striking the paint with a sharp object can cause chipping. This can be repaired with appliance touch-up paint available from hardware stores and appliance retailers. The paint applies quickly with an applicator brush that comes attached to the bottom of the screw-on cap on the bottle.

Instructions

    • 1

Wipe the damaged area with a paper towel and liquid soap to remove grease. Clean away the soap with a paper towel dampened with water. Let the surface air dry.

    • 2

Shake the paint bottle to mix the contents.

Work the paint into the chipped area with the applicator brush. Let the paint dry between coats to build up a thickness if the chip is deep. Repair scratched areas by painting along the length of the scratch, rather than side to side. This helps the new paint blend with the original paint.
