Frigidaire GLMV168 Microwave Turntable Noise

The Frigidaire GLMV168 is a countertop microwave with a temperature probe, touchpad controls, automatic defrost, specific cooking settings for various food items, and a rotating turntable. If the microwave's turntable is making noise during use, there are several potential causes that you can usually resolve with some basic troubleshooting and cleaning steps.
  1. Heavy or Large Items

    • Sometimes dishes that are oversize or very heavy might weigh down the turntable, causing noise when the turntable rotates under the weight or size of the food item. Turn the turntable off when you place oversize or heavy dishes in the microwave by pressing “Turntable,” and cook the food normally, turning it one-quarter turn about halfway through. There's no need to remove the turntable from the microwave. To turn on the turntable function, press “Turntable” again.

    Dirty Tray

    • When the underside of the glass tray gets dirty, this dirt can cause noise as the tray rotates around in the microwave and rubs against the grit in the turntable support. Lift out the glass tray when it's cool and wash with warm, soapy water; then rinse it well and dry it. Set the tray evenly back on the support and rotate it gently to ensure the tray is positioned correctly.

    Turntable Support

    • As with the glass tray, the turntable support can get dirty and cause noise as the support and the turntable turn. Lift out the glass tray, then lift up on the turntable support to remove it. Clean it with warm, soapy water; rinse and dry it well. Clean out the turntable support tracks before placing the turntable support back in the Frigidaire microwave.

    Repair

    • Since the glass tray and the turntable support are both breakable, if the tray is cracked or the support is damaged or broken, noise will occur during microwave operation. Examine the tray for signs of cracks or breakage, and look at the turntable support for signs of damage as well. Contact Frigidaire for replacement parts as needed.
